Experts for Pump and Ready-Mix Truck

MEVAS has a network of engineers available for inspection of concrete pumps and ready-mix trucks in most European countries. We can inspect used pumps and trucks in Belgium, Holland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Russia, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands. A map with more info you can find on our network page.

Ready Mix trucks and concrete pumps are working in tough conditions and concrete handling is no easy work. We have seen many costly problems on these machines. Small repair such as worn brake or a damaged rock valve can sum up to several hundred Euros. But if the auger motor is broken or the pump cylinders do not work the repairs can easily extend to some thousand Euro. Therefore we recommend strongly an unbiased and independent inspection report on concrete handling equipment.

Road trucks and Concrete Pumps

MEVAS is performing inspections on used concrete pumps and mixer trucks of various brands. So far we have done pre-delivery inspections on machines of Schwing, Stetter, Liebherr, Sanny, Putzmeister and some others, mounted on Mercedes, Scania and MAN trucks. The last couple of years we have inspected more than 200 road trucks, maybe 40 concrete pumps and more than 150 ready-mix trucks. We helped our customers to select the best trucks for the import.

Especially the inspection of concrete pumps requires an experienced engineer. Our technicians know how to perform a water-test, how to check the knees on concrete lines and how a concrete pumping cylinder should look.

What is a concrete pump and what is it used for?

A concrete pump is a piece of construction equipment used to transfer liquid concrete from a concrete mixer or other source to the intended location where it is needed. It is a vital tool in the construction industry for efficiently and precisely placing concrete in various applications. Here's an overview of what a concrete pump is and how it is used:

1. •Components of a Concrete Pump•
•Hopper• The hopper is the initial point where the concrete is loaded. It can hold a certain volume of concrete and feed it into the pumping system.
•S-valve or Rock Valve• This component controls the flow of concrete from the hopper into the pumping system. It is often made of steel or other durable materials to withstand the abrasive nature of concrete.
•Hydraulic Pump• The hydraulic pump generates the pressure needed to push the concrete through the delivery system. It provides the power to the pistons that move the concrete.
•Pistons or Conveying Cylinders• Pistons, typically connected to the hydraulic system, are responsible for pushing the concrete through the delivery pipe.
•Delivery Pipe• The delivery pipe is a system of pipes and hoses that transport the concrete from the pump to the desired location.

2. •Types of Concrete Pumps•
•Boom or Truck-Mounted Concrete Pump• This type of concrete pump is attached to a truck with a long, extendable boom that can reach high or hard-to-access areas. It is ideal for construction sites where concrete needs to be pumped to elevated locations.
•Trailer-Mounted Concrete Pump• Trailer-mounted pumps are more mobile and can be transported to different job sites. They are generally used for smaller projects.
•Line Pump• A line pump is a stationary pump used for lower volume concrete pumping. It is often used for smaller construction tasks like sidewalks, swimming pools, and residential projects.

3. •Uses of Concrete Pumps•
•High-Rise Construction• Concrete pumps are essential for pouring concrete at great heights, such as in the construction of skyscrapers and tall buildings.
•Bridge and Tunnel Construction• These structures often require precise concrete placement in challenging environments, which is facilitated by concrete pumps.
•Residential Construction• Concrete pumps are used in residential projects to pour concrete for foundations, slabs, and other structures.
•Infrastructure Projects• Concrete pumps are crucial in the construction of infrastructure like highways, railways, and airports.
•Industrial Flooring• When pouring large areas of industrial flooring, concrete pumps provide a uniform and efficient means of distribution.

Concrete pumps offer several advantages, including:

•Efficiency• They can pump concrete at a faster rate than manual methods.
•Precision• They allow for accurate placement of concrete, reducing the risk of spills or overfilling.
•Reduced Labor• Concrete pumping reduces the need for manual labor to transport and pour concrete.
•Safety• Workers are less exposed to hazards associated with heavy lifting and concrete pouring.

In summary, a concrete pump is a construction machine designed to transport and place concrete efficiently and accurately, making it an essential tool in various construction projects, especially those that require concrete to be delivered to hard-to-reach or elevated locations.
